Your self-guided city tour Günzburg begins right in the heart of the old town at the historic market square. From there you set off on a varied walk through the most important places in town. With your smartphone in hand you follow the route through narrow alleys and across historic squares, solving short riddles that point your eyes to details you would otherwise walk right past.
You discover the Kuhturm, a relic of the medieval city fortification, visit the magnificent Frauenkirche and explore the narrow Frauengässchen, where citizens once built cleverly to save space and money. The route continues to the Brentano House, which tells the story of the town’s international trade, and to the Dossenberger Hof, once used as a barracks. In the Münzgasse you learn why Günzburg used to be an important mint town, before the tour finally ends at the former Piarist College.
The Günzburg walking tour works fully self-guided via app and GPS. You can start whenever you like and choose your own pace. Plan around 1.5 hours – including time to explore, pause and enjoy. For a smooth experience bring a fully charged device (smartphone or tablet) and an active internet connection to load the content. As an alternative to the web app there is also a native app available in the App Store. We recommend headphones to hear the audio stories clearly in the town.
